Thia is as the Ikukuoma Elders Council of Ebonyi State reaffirmed their unwavering confidence and support for Governor Francis Nwifuru and the Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, OON.
The elders also warned the public against what they described as “desperate political misinformation” allegedly being circulated by some popularity-seeking and disgruntled elements in the State.
Reiterating their full support for Governor Nwifuru’s second-term bid, the elders extolled what they called his “superlative developmental strides,” which they said have led to the transformation of the state.
In a well worded communiqué issued at the end of their Monthly General Meeting on Monday, December 1, 2025, held at the Ikwo Noyo Cultural Civic Centre in Ngamgbo Ewogu, the Council strongly condemned recent media publications targeted at Ogah, describing such development as malicious, unfounded, and politically motivated.
The meeting, which drew representatives from all 31 political wards of the lawmaker’s Constituency, reviewed emerging political developments and the rising wave of coordinated attacks allegedly aimed at destabilizing the area’s long-standing peaceful atmosphere.
The communiqué was jointly signed by 55 prominent members of the Ikukuoma Elders Council, representing various communities, professions, and traditional institutions.
According to the document, the Elders Council expressed concern that the recent media reports were “deliberately designed to inflame the political climate” and undermine the prevailing peace within the Ikwo Noyo Clan.
They accused unnamed political actors of sponsoring campaign of calumny to discredit the federal lawmaker’s personality and unprecedented achievements in many sectors of the economy.
The publications, the elders said, were “calculated attempts to tarnish the image of a worthy son whose leadership and service have brought honour and visibility to the constituency.”
The Council highlighted Ogah’s achievements before and since his election to the National Assembly in 2019, noting numerous development projects, economic empowerment programmes, employment facilitation, scholarship schemes, and humanitarian interventions spanning across all wards within the Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency.
His patriotism, integrity, and grassroots-driven leadership, they said, contributed to his recognition as Ikukuoma of Amegu Erimogudu Kingdom and his national honour as an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
The Communiqué stressed that the Council is fully satisfied with his people-centred representation, describing him as “a leader in whom the constituency is well pleased.”
In a unanimous decision, the Ikukuoma Elders Council endorsed Rep. Ogah as its preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections, insisting that he “deserves another term” based on his legislative competence, experience, and performance.
They urged constituents to disregard ongoing media distractions, which they described as desperate attempts by political opportunists to mislead the public.
Beyond endorsing Nwifuru and Ogah, the elders also pledged loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he seeks a renewed mandate in 2027.
The communiqué concluded with a call for unity, peace, and vigilance as the political season gathers momentum.
The elders urged the people of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency to remain alert and not allow “desperate individuals” to destabilize the area through baseless propaganda and misinformation.
