The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested six suspects allegedly involved in the gruesome murder of the traditional ruler of Ishinkwo Community, HRH Eze Josephat Nnanna Ikegwu, and recovered one AK-47 rifle with eight rounds of live ammunition.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Command.
The statement, disclosed that the suspects were arrested following sustained intelligence-led investigations by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Ebonyi State.
The arrested suspects were identified as Ucha Johnson ‘m’, Ogobuchi Igwe ‘m’, Nkpuma Nwankwo ‘m’, Edwin Onwoshi ‘m’, Itumo Joseph ‘m’, and Emmanuel Nwaoba ‘m’.
According to the Command, the breakthrough followed the murder of the traditional ruler on 2nd April, 2026 at his residence.
The police further stated that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, psc, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to justice and warned that perpetrators of violent crimes would not escape prosecution.
“No individual involved in criminality will be allowed to evade justice,” the Commissioner stated, adding that the Command remains resolute in its efforts to rid the state of violent crime.
The Command assured residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across Ebonyi State.
