The State Programme Officer, TB Network, Ebonyi State, Mr Ogbonna Okemini, has commended the people of Ochafu Village in Igbeagu Community, Izzi Local Government Area, for their self-help efforts towards providing a functional health facility for members of the community.
Okemini gave the commendation during the Community-Led Monitoring tour of the Ochafu Health Facility to ascertain the level of work done on the project.
The advocacy team of the State TB Network, which is saddled with the responsibility of encouraging villagers and communities to contribute to the development and ownership of health facilities in their localities, said Ochafu Village had demonstrated a patriotic spirit in response to the call.
The team leader, Okemini, said the community had almost completed the health facility, which was abandoned for more than 10 years, following the network’s advocacy visit to the village leadership.
He called on the government at all levels, as well as well-meaning individuals and organisations, to support the community in ensuring the total completion of the facility.
The Chairman of Ochafu Village, Mr Sunday Mbam, thanked the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for his numerous programmes in the state, particularly in the health sector.
Mbam also appreciated the TB Network team and members of the community for their unflinching support, which he said had contributed to the progress recorded on the project.
He pledged the support of the village for Governor Nwifuru’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
