National Chairman, Dr.Ganduje Unveils Plans to Ensure Accurate Membership Count

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to bolster its membership base by introducing electronic registration for its extensive network of over 40 million members across the nation.
Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the party, made this announcement during a gathering with elected Deputy National Officers and National Executive Committee (NEC) members at the National secretariat in Abuja.
The primary objective behind this electronic registration initiative is to obtain precise and up-to-date statistics on party membership. Ganduje emphasized the significance of this innovation, stating, “Another step that we have taken is that we are reviewing our registration electronically now. The work has already started, so you should be ready that all our members will be electronically registered so that we have an exact number physically.”
In 2021, the National Caretaker Committee of the party, under the leadership of former Governor Mai Mala Buni, conducted a nationwide membership registration drive, which resulted in the inclusion of over 40 million individuals in the party’s registration records.
However, Ganduje expressed concern that the outcome of the 2023 presidential election did not accurately reflect the number of registered party members. He remarked, “If you will recall, we had 41 million members, while after the presidential election, we had 8 million. What happened to the rest? So, we need to be digital and ensure that we are working with the correct data.”
In addition to the electronic registration endeavor, the APC has outlined plans to establish a National Institute of Democratic Studies. This institute aims to assist Nigerians in shaping their behaviors in alignment with democratic principles and progressive ideas.
Hon. Omorode Osifo-Marshall, the leader of the visiting team and Deputy National Treasurer of the party, extended congratulations to Ganduje on his election as the 6th National Chairman of the party. He also pledged unwavering support and loyalty to the new leadership of the APC.
