Ebonyi State Transport Corporation, Ebotrans, has taken proactive measures to address rising security concerns in Nigeria by inaugurating security team and implementing advanced safety measures.
The Acting General Manager of EBOTRANS, Dr. Simon Idenyi, made this known during the swearing-in of newly trained security personnel recently in Abakaliki.
SpringNews gathered that the officers underwent rigorous interviews and extensive training led by a retired police officer to ensure they are fully equipped to handle the security challenges faced by the corporation.
Speaking the acting general manager stated “on Friday, we conducted the swearing-in of our security men who passed through a very rigorous interview and training process.
“This extensive training, led by a retired police officer, ensures they are well-prepared to fit into the security settings of Ebotrans. We decided to decorate them to recognize their successful completion of the training,” he noted.
Given the rising security concerns, Ebotrans is taking steps to ensure the safety of both passengers and assets.
Dr. Idenyi emphasized the importance of vigilant security across all 18 depots, noting, “because of the security problem, we need to train them properly to fit into the job that is at stake now. Our security men must be vigilant in protecting Ebotrans’ assets, whether within our compounds or wherever they are posted for duty.”
The Operations Manager, Mr. Innocent Obiahu expressed his appreciation for the security officers’ dedication and perseverance. “I appreciate the security officers for their perseverance and the dedication they have shown in their jobs. Their commitment has been instrumental in maintaining the safety and security of our passengers and assets,” he noted.
Also speaking the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Michael Eze stated, “I will do my best to ensure that this place is well protected. I thank the General Manager and the management of Ebotrans for this opportunity.”
In addition to the new security personnel, EBOTRANS has upgraded its technological capabilities by equipping all vehicles with speed trackers and tracking gadgets.
Dr. Idenyi explained, “We have decided to brand our vehicles and install tracking machines so that if anyone tries to steal our vehicles, we can trace them from the comfort of our office.
“The speed limiters and tracking devices are working effectively, making Ebotrans one of the safest transport options available.”
Dr. Idenyi assured passengers of their safety, encouraging them to rely on EBOTRANS for secure travel. “Rely on EBOTRANS vehicles for the security of your lives and property. Feel free to park your vehicles at our depots and travel with EBOTRANS to any destination, any day, anytime. Your vehicles will be safe and sound when you return,” he said.
