The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ebonyi State Chapter, has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for his remarkable initiative to empower 1,300 youths across the state with the sum of N1 million each to boost their entrepreneurial ventures.
The commendation was given by the Chairperson of NAWOJ Ebonyi, Nkechiyere Ruth Oginyi, in a statement made available to the press following the Governor’s recent announcement at the Empowerment and Account of Stewardship event, led by Hon. Nwachukwu Eze, Member Representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency.
Mrs. Oginyi praised the Governor’s proactive approach, noting that this initiative comes at a time when the nation is grappling with widespread economic challenges and unrest.
She noted that this empowerment program is a testament to the state government’s dedication to fostering peace and economic stability within Ebonyi State.
According to her “the youth of Ebonyi have shown exceptional maturity and a sense of responsibility by choosing to focus on the progress and peace of our state instead of participating in nationwide protests,” said Mrs. Oginyi.
“Governor Nwifuru’s decision to reward this positive outlook with substantial financial support is both timely and commendable.”
She further urged the beneficiaries of this empowerment program to make judicious use of the funds, seeing this as an opportunity to establish self-reliance and contribute to the state’s economic growth. “This N1 million grant should be seen as a stepping stone to greater achievements. We encourage the youth to channel these resources into productive ventures that will benefit not only themselves but also the entire state of Ebonyi.”
In addition to commending the government’s efforts, Mrs. Oginyi called attention to the need for enhanced environmental management within the state capital. She appealed to the Honorable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Victor Aleke, to intensify efforts in ensuring that Ebonyi State meets the required environmental standards, as a clean and well-maintained environment is crucial for the well-being of its citizens.
