…Sen. Egwu Awards Scholarship to Best Graduating Students

In a remarkable gesture of support for academic excellence, Senator Sam Ominyi Egwu, the first civilian Governor of Ebonyi State, awarded university scholarships to the two best graduating students of Hope High British International School, Abakaliki, during the school’s 2023/2024 graduation ceremony.

The honored students, Miss Eze Anita Chisom and Miss Onor Ucheoma Chukwu, were recognized for their outstanding performances in Sciences and Arts, respectively. The awards were presented by Sen. Egwu, who expressed deep gratitude to the school’s management for consistently producing brilliant students. He congratulated the scholarship recipients and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

Prof. Humphrey Nwaobasi, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary), also praised Hope High British International School for its reputation as a center of excellence. He urged the school’s management to sustain the high academic and moral standards for which the institution is known, highlighting the discipline and decorum that contribute to a conducive learning environment.

Speaking on behalf of the school’s management, Prof. Ike Elechi, Chairman of the School Board, emphasized the institution’s commitment to diligence, hard work, and zero tolerance for mediocrity over its twenty years of existence. He noted that Hope High British International School has been accredited by Cambridge University Schools, making it a full-fledged British institution capable of conducting international examinations for foreign universities.

Prof. Elechi thanked Sen. Egwu for his generosity in awarding the scholarships, stating that this would inspire other students to aim higher in their academic pursuits. He also called on parents to seize the opportunity to provide their children with the best education possible at the institution.

In appreciation, Rev. Dr. Torty Onor, father of one of the scholarship recipients, expressed profound gratitude to Sen. Egwu and the school’s management for their role in fostering academic excellence. The graduation ceremony also featured cultural performances, debates, news presentations, and the public presentation of an anthology authored by members of the school’s Literary Society, further showcasing the talents and achievements of the students.
