The Eze Obioha II of Umunneator Autonomous Community of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, His Royal Highness, H.R.H Eze Tunde Ehiemere has commended Governor Alex Otti for his impactful leadership in Umunneator Autonomous Community of the State.
The Royal father who described Governor Otti as God-sent to the people of the State, commended the Governor for approving the ongoing construction of Ezendioma/Obehie old road, implementation of diverse empowerment programmes and scholarships for Abians and reconstruction of Orie Market in Umuajioha town in Umunneator Community of the State.
Addressing newsmen in his Palace, Eze Ehiemere, who has three towns, Ezendioma, Umuajioha, and Obibor under his jurisdiction, appealed to the present administration in Abia State to begin the process for the rural electrification of Ukwa West LGA as such initiative would boost investment opportunities and investor’s interest in Umunneator Autonomous Community.
According to him, the Governor of Abia State is our own Governor because we are feeling the impact of his governance. There’s a Local Market called Orie at Umuajioha that has now been transformed into a modern market courtesy of the Governor of Abia State.
He said: “I have through my administration stepped down Governor Alex Otti’s administration to the grassroot level as there’s peace and stability in Umunneator Autonomous Community.
“We want to call on the Governor to begin the process of rural electrification in Ukwa West Local Government Area. Like those who are interested in the industrialisation of Ukwa West are hammering on power supply and distribution in this LGA.
“We commend him for the award of contract for the construction of Ezendioma/Obehie old road. The work is in progress through ASUPADEC. Like our High Court and our Police Station have been renovated but the Court is not sitting now yet. We want him to bring back the Judge, so that sittings will commence in ernest.
“You know that there’s no way there won’t be one dispute or disagreement or the other, so we want the Governor to make our High Court productive and functional, so that our people will not be going to Aba for legal matters, because of its cost implications.
“We are confident that our Governor being loving and understanding would attend to our needs. Most importantly, we need light in Ukwa West LGA. Once there’s power, the cost of living will be reduced in our Communities and more investors will come and invest in this land of opportunity. This our environment is highly conducive for investment.”
The Eze Obioha II of Umunneator Autonomous Community of Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, His Royal Highness, H.R.H Eze Tunde Ehiemere who has been in the helms of affairs for the past 10 years of peaceful reign in Umunneator Community explained that his administration has always used various channels to resolve any form of dispute among his people.
“I am not an autocratic leader. I use democratic system of government to govern my people. Democratic in the sense that, I allow Obibor to have control over its assets in the town while the President General reports to me.
“The same thing with Umuajioha
and Ezendioma too. The youth wing also has its own autonomy. We have Umunneator General youths, who channel their reports to me. The Women wing also exist. All those people are allowed freedom of administration.
“I don’t interfere unless otherwise. So, I make use of the Council of Chiefs. I am not sentimental. The Council of Chiefs comprises of the paramount Chiefs from different villages, and in this town and there are also those with titles as Chiefs.
“I am not a member of the Council of Chiefs. They are independent. They run their affairs and make sure that disputes are resolved amicably. And so, if there are issues, I know the proper channel to use to handle it and that is why you can hardly see conflict resolution activities in the palace, unless on sensitive matters.
Umunneator Community is one of the peaceful Communities in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State. You can see that the 144 Battalion Comand is stationed in Umunneator and this is the only place that we don’t have crisis. This is simply because of my peaceful disposition as the Eze of Umunneator Autonomous Community. We treat the Military as our brothers and they reciprocate accordingly.”
Also, the General Youth Leader of Umunneator Autonomous Community and the Commander of Homeland Security, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Miracle, who praised His Royal Highness, H.R.H Eze Tunde Ehiemere for his peaceful disposition and people-oriented leadership added that His Royal Highness through his style of leadership has been able to make Umunneator Autonomous Community a fertile ground for industrialisation.
“For instance, we welcome investors. We treat them well like brothers and at the end, we give them quota for the employment of our youths. Like the China Company, the British Nigerian University and even the Railway company at Obibor, we make sure that through his Highness, we write to them and they give our youths employment.
“As a result, our youths are calm. They are really employed and again, we use to have seminars, where we educate them on how they can avoid youth restiveness.
“Educationally, like the Nigerian British University gave us quota for admission of youths into the University and they were admitted on the bases of merit. Also, we have a link to Abia State University as the VC made it open to everybody and through that channel, many of youths gained admission.”
