Dr. Emmanuel Etu Odo Emerges President of Ngbo Leaders Council

Dr. Emmanuel Etu Odo, the Deputy Provost of the College of Education Ikwo, has emerged as the new President of the Ngbo Leaders Council.

In an election held at Methodist Church Ndulo Ngbo, Dr. Etu Odo secured 53 votes, defeating his opponent, Rev. Michael Ali, who garnered 32 votes.

The Chairman of the Ngbo Leaders Council 2024 Electoral Committee, Dr. G.O.C Udu, announced the results, noting that out of ten available positions, four were contested.

The remaining six positions, including First Vice President, Second Vice President, and Treasurer, were filled unopposed.

Other contested positions included Secretary, won by Dr. Michael Odo with 55 votes, and Director of Social Affairs, where Hon. Uche Ubochi emerged victorious with 47 votes. Prof. Martin Ogayi secured the post of Public Relations Officer with 43 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Etu Odo thanked all those who supported him and promised to uphold the trust placed in him. He called for unity among all stakeholders to advance the interests of the Ngbo community.

Leaders including Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze and Princess Chinyere Elom praised the transparent and peaceful nature of the election.

They pledged their support to the newly elected executives in driving development in the Ngbo Nation.

The outgoing President, Dr. Okeh C. Okeh had earlier mentioned some of the achievements recorded under his tenure including restoring peace between Ngbo Nation and Agila Community and appreciated all stakeholders for their support that led to the success.
