President Bola Tinubu has officially promoted Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General. The decoration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu praised the Nigerian military for its steadfast dedication, courage, and patriotism in safeguarding the nation’s security.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to decorate you today,” Tinubu stated. “This recognition reflects your commitment and service to the Nigerian military, which speaks volumes through your exemplary record.”
He continued, “We recognize all that you have been doing to ensure the country is safe and stable.”
The President further assured the military of his administration’s ongoing support, emphasizing that their advice would play a critical role in guiding Nigeria toward peace and prosperity.
“We are facing challenges, but progress is being made,” he added, noting the significant strides achieved in countering terrorism and banditry due to the armed forces’ collaborative efforts.
Highlighting the importance of unity within the armed forces, Tinubu stated, “The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue. We need to assure all citizens that prosperity is not far from them.”
In response, Lt. Gen. Oluyede expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the importance of the promotion. He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and maintaining peace across Nigeria.
