The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Odunwa has pledged to continue to complement the effort of the State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru in driving home his People’s Charter of Needs Policy to rural dwellers.
The Speaker made the disclosure during a Special Valentine Baby Shower and Opening Maternity Day held at Ndufu Igbudu Health Centre, Amuda, in Ikwo Local Government Area organised in collaboration with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency for the people of Igbudu Ward in Ikwo Local Government Area to mark the 2025 Valentine Day.
The Speaker who said he was moved by the extraordinary passion of the State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru to impact the lives and health of Ebonyi people described good health as fundamental to human growth, development and empowerment.
He said the outreach was his way of appreciating his constituents at the grassroot who had played pivotal roles in his present position and remained committed to the peace accord of their communities and assured of making the exercise monthly until the ten political wards of his constituency were covered.
The representative of the Agency and the Agency’s Baby Shower Desk Officer, Ebonyi State, Mrs. Ngozi Alo, said the programme was to create awareness of big catch-up campaigns and to provide opportunities for children who missed nine months of vaccination to leverage the opportunity and vaccinated.
She emphasized that a child who missed the nine months vaccination has high susceptibility to measles among other vaccine preventable diseases and thanked Chief Odunwa for collaborating the Agency to come to the medical aid of the community.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke in their local dialect, including Mrs. Blessing Awo, Mr. Nwidagu Nwali, Mr Nworie Ezaka, and Mrs. Nwekoyo Ogechi, thanked the Speaker, Chief Odunwa for his thoughtfulness in bringing free medical treatment to the grassroots and the Agency for their professionalism in carrying out their duties and prayed God for more blessings.
The event which turned mini rally witnessed the assemblage of a great number of Igbudu People including infants, under five age children, lactating mothers and pregnant women received different kinds of free medical tests and treatments of different ailments.
