The Special Assistant, SA on Media and Publicity, Office of the National Vice Chairman, PDP South East Zone, Hon. Prince Ify Chijioke has emphasized that Chief Ali Odefa, is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Country.
Chijioke stated that verdicts so far released by different Courts affirmed Chief Ali Odefa’s suspension and subsequent expulsion from the Party.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve clearly and boldly stated that Chief Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the PDP. In fact, I believe he himself knows this. That’s why, these days, he plays PDP by day and sneaks around with the APC by night.”
Disclosing this in a statement, Prince Ify Chijioke stressed that “His (Ali Odefa) Ward executives from Oguduokwor Ward in Oshiri, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, led by the Chairman, Hon. Ovuta Herbert Onyedikachi, had earlier suspended and then expelled him for anti-party activities.”
According to him: “I shall be releasing a series of court judgments concerning the disgraced former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ali Odefa, and I’m starting with this very one.
“Didn’t he just host an APC meeting in his country home in Oshiri? But that, of course, is a tale for another day. Let’s deal with the facts please.
“On Wednesday, 26th February 2025, the Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki affirmed the expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa from the PDP. Not just suspension, expulsion; total removal. Let that sink in please.”
The SA on Media and Publicity, Office of the National Vice Chairman, PDP South East Zone added that the Court merely upheld what the Party at the grassroots had already done, thus making the expulsion legal and binding.
The statement read in part: “Till date, Chief Ali Odefa has neither appealed this judgment, nor has any superior court vacated or set it aside. The time for appeal has also expired. So, in the eyes of the law and the PDP Constitution, Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, and has no business attending any of its meetings or functions.
“Therefore, anyone associating with him as a member of the party or as the National Vice Chairman, is doing so at their own peril. Let me walk you through how it all unfolded:
“On September 11, 2024: Chief Ali Odefa was suspended by his ward for anti-party activities. In December 11, 2024: After investigation, the same Ward Executives expelled him for gross misconduct.
“In November 29, 2024: The Federal High Court in Abakaliki upheld his suspension. February 26, 2025: The same court affirmed his expulsion, granting all reliefs sought by the ward.
“This is not an isolated case in the PDP. Let me remind us of a few others: Uche Secondus, former PDP National Chairman, was suspended by his Ward 3 in Ikuru Town, Andoni LGA, Rivers State, on July 2, 2021, over anti-party activities like trying to foist Tele Ikuru on the PDP in Rivers State, as the party’s governorship candidate.
“His suspension was affirmed by a court in Degema, and he was removed from office as the party’s National Chairman. Senator Iyorchia Ayu, also a former PDP National Chairman, was suspended by his Igyorov Ward in Gboko LGA, Benue State, on March 26, 2023, led by the Chairman, Kash Philip, for similar anti-party activities.
“The Benue State High Court upheld his suspension, declaring that he lost his membership of the party after his Ward suspended him. Consequently, he was removed as the National Chairman, and Ambassador Umar Damagum stepped in as Acting National Chairman.
“I can go on and on. So the question is: Why is Ali Odefa, who has not even challenged his expulsion in any court, still parading himself as a member, and worse still, as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP? Sad isn’t it!
“His case is even weaker than Ayu’s or Secondus’. They went to court. He didn’t. It is an insult to the PDP, a disgrace to the party’s constitution, and a slap on the judiciary for anyone, anywhere, to still recognize Chief Ali Odefa as a PDP member, especially some party stakeholders. He is not.
“I say it again without fear or apology; Ali Odefa is an imposter. He knows it, and we know it.”
