Ebonyi Begins Audition to Revive Arts and Culture Sector

By Emmanuel Obinna Igwe

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Stanley I. Ogbuewu, has urged youths in the state to believe in themselves and harness their God-given talents as the state begins auditions to select artists for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Hon. Ogbuewu made the call while addressing applicants at the ongoing audition held at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki. He advised the participants to shun street hawking, social vices, and all acts capable of tarnishing the image of the state, adding that the present administration places high priority on youth development.

He encouraged the applicants to display their creativity and confidence during the exercise, noting that only the best performers would be selected to fill the available positions in the ministry.

The Director in the Department of Arts and Culture, Mr. Adjere Henry, explained that the audition was not a mere formality but a genuine process to recruit competent artists for the ministry. He urged the participants to perform boldly and without fear, assuring them that their efforts would be duly recognised.

Four judges supervised and evaluated the performances, while observers were drawn from the Office of the Head of Service, the Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

It will be recalled that the Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission recently announced vacancies in the Department of Arts and Culture under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s workforce.

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s administration has continued to prioritise the revitalisation of all sectors of government ministries, departments, and agencies. The governor’s recognition of the contributions of the Ebonyi State Council for Arts and Culture underscores his commitment to promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The Council has over the years showcased Ebonyi’s artistic excellence, earning several awards and projecting the state as a beacon of cultural pride
