Akpoazaa keeps UNIZIK merit award alive

The Akpoazaa Foundation has renewed its ₦500,000 annual endowment fund for outstanding graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.

The renewal was announced during a courtesy visit by the Founder of Akpoazaa Foundation and Group Managing Director of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bond Stanley Anyaehie, at the Awka campus.

Dr. Igbojindu explained that the endowment, instituted in 2025, was designed to reward and encourage academic excellence among graduating students and has now been formalised as a yearly intervention to promote merit, discipline and excellence.

According to him, a total sum of ₦500,000 is awarded across three categories: ₦250,000 for the Overall Best Graduating Student of the University, ₦150,000 for the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Management Sciences, and ₦100,000 for the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Accountancy.

He added that the Foundation would also be donating a 500-capacity event tent to support logistics for the University’s forthcoming convocation ceremony.

“This gesture is part of our commitment to providing facilities that enhance teaching, learning and human capital development in higher institutions across Anambra State,” he said.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie, expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a commendable example of alumni support and private-sector partnership in advancing the University’s academic ideals.

He urged the Foundation to sustain the gesture, noting that Dr. Igbojindu, an alumnus of the institution, had returned to strengthen a legacy he began last year.

The Akpoazaa Foundation endowment remains one of the notable alumni-driven initiatives aimed at motivating students and reinforcing a culture of excellence within the University.
