Kannywood actress Hadiza Aliyu, popularly known as Hadiza Gabon, has taken a civil servant named Bala Musa to court for allegedly defaming her character.

Gabon, through her lawyer, Mr. Mubarak Sani, explained that she faced negative reactions and public criticism due to false accusations made by the defendant. People on social media falsely labeled her a cheat who had taken money from Musa but refused to marry him.

The defendant, represented by Mr. Naira Murtala, denied the allegations.

The Chief Magistrate, Shamsudeen Sulaiman, inquired about the availability of witnesses, to which the complainant’s counsel confirmed their presence.

The Chief Magistrate granted bail to the accused with the condition that he must provide two reliable sureties who are residents of Kaduna State and civil servants.

The case has been adjourned to November 15 for the complainant to present witnesses.

Previously, the defendant had filed a suit against Gabon in Shari’a Court l, Magajin Gari, in March 2022, accusing the actress of refusing to marry him after he had given her N396,000. However, Gabon denied knowing Musa and having any relationship with him. The complainant’s counsel presented a bank statement to the Shari’a court, revealing that four individuals received the money claimed to be sent to the defendant.

Two of the four individuals, Fatima Abdullahi and Abdullahi Yusuf, confessed to impersonating the actress and receiving money in her name. They pleaded for forgiveness from the court.

After several requests by Murtala to transfer the case to an Upper Shari’a Court, Judge Isiyaku Abdulrahman dismissed the case on October 31 and discharged Gabon. The defendant and his counsel were ordered to pay N500,000 to the actress for wasting her time.
