A man has been arrested alongside two other suspects for allegedly kidnapping his own father in Malabu community, Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the arrests in a statement issued Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended following a coordinated raid by security operatives after the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu on January 30, 2026.
The operation, the command said, was carried out in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, to intensify the crackdown on criminal elements across the state.
Police operatives, working in collaboration with members of the Miyetti Allah local security outfit, raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, Malabu District, Fufore LGA, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28.
The command described the development as “more worrisome,” revealing that one of the suspects, Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, is the biological son of the kidnapped victim.
“All the three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime,” the statement noted.
The police said efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate. The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
Commending the collaboration between the police and local security stakeholders, the Commissioner of Police reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Adamawa State.
He urged members of the public to support the police with timely and credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
