ADC flags off statewide mobilisation ahead of Ebonyi LG polls

African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ebonyi State chapter has distributed membership registers to the 171 wards in the State as part of her mobilisation plans to participate in the forthcoming Local Government election in the State and rescue Nigeria and Ebonyi State from pains and sorrow.

Addressing journalists shortly after the exercise at the party’s secretariat along old Enugu-Abakaliki road, the Party Chairman, Dr. Jennifer Nwafor-Adibe charged all the ward chairmen to go and mobilise for the party.

The Chairman, who called on those who were yet to fully identify with the party to do so, emphasized on the importance of members obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and membership cards to justify their genuineness as members of the party.

She explained the essence of the meeting which comprises ward chairmen, local government chairmen, secretaries , youth leaders and women leaders, “It’s about telling them the progress of our party and hearing from our chairmen how far they’ve gone in mobilising for the party.

“So, most of the chairmen have already gotten a local government secretariat, likewise some ward chairmen. And as you can see for yourself, we’ve distributed 171 ward registers to all the ward chairmen for onwards registration and mobilisation, which the ADC is doing.

“All the chairmen have been charged to go down and mobilise the people to our party. Now is the time for you to identify fully if you are for us or you are not for us. So, for those standing on the fence, we are still calling on them to come fully and register into our party.

“Your party card and your PVC is your mandate. Get your party card and PVC because if you have a party card and you don’t have a permanent voter’s card, that means you are not a serious member of our party. So, it is part of what we did.today”, Adibe disclosed to journalists.

Other stakeholders who spoke to journalists include the National Vice Chairman Diaspora ADC, Chief Fred Onwe said that the party in the State has been well equipped to participate in all elections in the State.

He said ‘So, you can see, as the chairman said, we are distributing ward registers donated by one of our stakeholders, we are not playing. So, we are here to partner together with our local government chairmen and the youth leaders and all that, so that we know the area we are lagging behind and do more. So, we are here to tell them that we are ready for elections in any capacity”, Onwe boasted.

Hon. Mrs. Nwotubo Catherine, the zonal Organising Secretary said the ADC in the State was working hard to rescue Nigerians from pain and sorrow.

She stated, “We are working hard to see that we come together and rescue Nigeria, because Nigeria is in problem. So, we are working hard to see that ADC rescues Nigeria from pain and sorrow. That’s why we call this meeting to mobilise people, to tell our people they need to come together and work for ADC”, she said.

Engineer Dr Opoke Sunday Andrew, National Coordinator of National Coalition Alliance, who described ADC as a child of circumstance, accused the opposition party of plunging Nigeria into poverty, insecurity and uncertainties.

He said that ADC has come to rescue Nigeria from kidnap ,to create access to democratic dividends and build a country where people from other countries would say good of Nigeria.

Opoke said, “This is not the country we prayed for. This is not the country we want. In fact, the leadership has plunged the whole entire nation into confusion. And then we are saying ADC has come. As a child of circumstance, to rescue Nigeria from insecurity. At least it’s no longer a news that people are not safe travelling through land, travelling through air.

“In fact, anywhere you move, a lot of people are waiting to kidnap you, to make you product and commodity. In this country now, people are now product and commodity. So if they kidnap you, they make money through you. So we want a situation where we have a country where there will be security, a country where young people can access dividends of democracy, where a child of nobody can get anything without knowing anybody.

“We want a country where poverty will no longer be the order of the day. We want a country where people can travel and come and be secured. We want a country where people from other countries can say good of us. Now we don’t have good image outside here. We want ADC, and ADC is already prepared, fully prepared.

“No matter what anybody will tell you, let the person know that whether they like it or not, ADC has come as a strong opposition to APC. And in the next election, it is going to be Ebonyians and Nigerians against APC.

The local government areas ADC chairmen of Onicha, Ohaukwu, and Ishielu , Uzor Charles , Hon Eze Eupherim and Igwe James, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for providing membership registration register for them to mobilize and register their members in the 171 wards of Ebonyi State.
