Aluminium Leadership Crisis: Election to hold October- Abakaliki Chairman

The Abakaliki chairman, Hon. Ebere Nwogha has announced that election to elect new leadership for members of Alumnium dealers Association would hold this October.
He made this know to in an interaction with the Press while speaking on the leadership crisis rocking the association.
The Voice gathered that for years the association had been devoid of democratic elections, with leadership being imposed upon its members by the previous administration.

However, a ray of hope now shines as an election is scheduled to take place this October.

Hon. Nwite acknowledged the association’s grievances, particularly their discontent with the high-handedness of the caretaker committee and their prolonged six-year tenure. In response, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the constitution’s due process.

“They complained of high handedness in the caretaker committee, collecting money from the union, complained that the caretaker have over stayed their tenure, stayed for 6 years.

“I told them that they have to follow the due process as enshrined in the constitution, and part of it, is to go through screening to know if you are eligible for the position you are vying for, and I insisted that the election will not exceed October. That I will get in touch with the commissioner for market. So that we will know those who will take part in the election process on the day, it will hold.

“On that note I told them to put a hold on everything that concerns leadership, until the election is done and I don’t want to appoint new leader .

“We agreed that the election will be option A4, that’s it has to be open, you will quene behind anybody and security will be there, possible the media will be invited.
“You know this hand picking, imposing leader on them, the rift will continue to be there, and we don’t want such.” He stated.

Hon. Nwite assured that the election would be free and fair, devoid from any form of electoral malpractice
