Annual Igbo Achievers: UNIEC Seeks Police Support for Grand Event in Enugu

The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has announced plans for a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP MB Giwa, to discuss security arrangements for its upcoming Great Igbo Achievers Legacy Day and Legacy Award scheduled for April 23, 2025.

Leading a prelude delegation, His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikpeama, Director General of UNIEC, alongside Onochiengwu Obuna Esq., an Enugu-based political scientist and legal practitioner, met with the commissioner to notify him of the organization’s intention to pay an official visit on a date to be communicated soon. The visit aims to strengthen collaboration on security measures for the event and address broader security concerns in the region.

The delegation highlighted that the visit aligns with the Igbo Think-Home Investment and Development Philosophy (Aku-Ruru-Ulo), which promotes community growth, social values, and economic development within the Igbo nation.

During their discussion, Justice Ikpeama, who has lived in Kano for over 25 years and previously headed the Kano State Sports Council’s boxing division, emphasized the importance of fostering unity and security. Obuna Esq. also shared insights from his time as a lecturer in Gombe State during his NYSC service year, underscoring the significance of national integration.

CP Giwa, who previously served in Enugu’s Mopol 3 formation, warmly welcomed the delegation and assured them of the police command’s commitment to providing security for the event. He pledged full support for the UNIEC initiative and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order in Enugu State.
