In the early hours of Saturday, unidentified gunmen raided Otu town in Oyo State, kidnapping two individuals and injuring another.
SPRINGNEWS has learned that Otu is situated in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area within the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.
According to our correspondent, the kidnapped victims are Mr. Dayo Olayanju and the wife of Mr. Kehinde Obasola. Reports indicate that Mr. Obasola managed to escape despite sustaining gunshot wounds, but his wife was seized by the gunmen.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the kidnapped victims remain unknown.
A local community leader in the area, who preferred not to be named, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, stating, “It is true. It happened around 2 am today.
“They were kidnapped in different areas. One was kidnapped along Okeho road.
“I have confirmed it. The two people kidnapped are Dayo Olayanju and the wife of Kehinde Obasola. Kehinde Obasola escaped with gunshots, but his wife was kidnapped.”
Efforts by SPRINGNEWS to obtain comments from the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful, as calls to his telephone line went unanswered. Similarly, attempts to reach the state Commandant of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), also known as Amotekun, Olayinka Olayanju, proved futile.
