Students at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has demanded for an apology from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  for arresting 69 students outside their hostels. The university’s Student Union says those arrested were students.

After the students were taken from Ile-Ife to the EFCC office in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, there was a big protest, and the university’s management helped to release 58 students. The university’s spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed this.

In a statement by the Student Union’s leaders, they ask the EFCC to clear the names of their members and are working to free the remaining 11 students.

They also want the EFCC to publicly tender an apology and clear the names of the students who were wrongly accused in the EFCC’s posts on social media.
