“Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has declared his readiness to lead a coalition of opposition parties aimed at ousting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Atiku made this announcement in a congratulatory message addressed to the PDP governors whose election victories were affirmed by the Supreme Court on Friday. His Media Office in Abuja released a statement in which Atiku hailed the court’s decision as positive news for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River, and Zamfara states, emphasizing that it marked a victory for constitutional democracy.
Reiterating his belief that a united opposition is crucial for strengthening democracy in Nigeria, Atiku was quoted as saying, “I am as prepared as ever to lead the charge, alongside all our leaders and Governors, for the good of our country.”
Expressing appreciation for the substantial delivery of justice by the Supreme Court, Atiku stated, “Where justice is seen to have been substantially rendered, we, as patriots and citizens, will always applaud.”
Atiku also underscored that the Supreme Court’s judgment ensures a continued adherence to the standards of good governance established by the PDP in the respective states. He urged the PDP governors, including Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, to view their victories at the Supreme Court as an opportunity to consolidate and expand the scope of the good governance they have already instituted.”
