Borno Flood Disaster: Ebonyi NAWOJ Extends Condolences to Victims, National Chairperson

The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has expressed deep condolences to the National Chairperson, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, and the people of Borno State following the recent flood disaster that claimed many lives and destroyed properties.

In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Nkechiyere Ruth Oginyi, Ebonyi NAWOJ conveyed its sorrow over the scale of devastation, noting the immense suffering brought on by the rising floodwaters.

The association highlighted the human and material losses, with many homes destroyed

“We are deeply sad about the scope of devastation and suffering that have befallen the state and many Nigerians caused by the rising floodwaters, which have recorded human and material losses with several homes destroyed

“With the nation’s dwindling economy, we urge the government to continue providing necessary measures to forestall occurrence in other states of the federation,”the statement reads.

Ebonyi NAWOJ further commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for its swift response to the crisis and offered prayers for the people of Borno during this difficult time.

“We pray that Borno State will rise above this tragedy and come out stronger.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and properties to the incident.”

The chapter reaffirmed its solidarity with those affected and hoped for a swift recovery for the state.
