Breaking Barriers: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Crowned Forbes’ Most Powerful Woman in Africa

In a groundbreaking announcement, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, has secured the title of the most powerful woman in Africa, according to Forbes’ 20th annual ranking unveiled on Tuesday. Positioned at an impressive 87th place on the global stage in the Most Powerful Women in the World list, she surpasses South African businesswoman Mpumi Madisa, who holds the 88th spot.

The list also welcomed Tanzanian President Samia Hassan at the 93rd spot and Nigerian media mogul and philanthropist Mo Abudu at the 98th position. Notably, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission for Impactful Policy and Budget, claimed the coveted title of the most powerful woman in the world for 2023.

Taking the second position is Christine Lagarde, the European Central Bank President, while U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris secured the third spot. This recognition underscores Okonjo-Iweala’s remarkable influence and leadership on the global stage, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.”
