Coalition: APC’s House is on Fire already — Dr Ezeh, LP Chieftain, Ebonyi State

A chieftain of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is already falling apart following the formation of a new political coalition by top opposition leaders under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Dr. Ezeh, who was the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 House of Representatives election for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, described the coalition as a major breakthrough for Nigeria’s democratic future. He said the move has sparked panic within the APC, describing their current state as “a house of cards on fire.”

He stated this on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, reacting to the unveiling of the coalition; which features political heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rauf Aregbesola—Dr. Ezeh stressed that the initiative is not just about removing President Bola Tinubu from office but about restoring democratic values.

“Let me correct the wrong narrative being weaved by some APC jobbers. The coalition is not just for removing Tinubu from office,” he said. “Rather, it is a well-intended effort to reset Nigeria’s democracy and put it on the path of accountability and responsible governance.”

Dr. Ezeh said the emergence of the coalition has already begun to halt the APC’s attempt to entrench itself as a one-party state. According to him, many Nigerians believe that under APC rule, democratic institutions have been destroyed while hunger and intimidation have become widespread tools of control.

“Most Nigerians believe that Tinubu’s APC has destroyed every institution of democratic governance, and gone ahead to unleash hunger, intimidation, as well as compromised most independent agencies and elites on the highway to one-party state,” he stated. “The coalition’s first success is pressing an emergency stop-button on that dangerous quest.”

He noted that members of the Obidient Movement are fully in support of the alliance, describing it as timely and necessary to salvage what is left of Nigeria’s democratic process.

“We have always maintained that a unified opposition is not only important in a democratic system but essential to address the APC’s dictatorial tendencies,” he said. “We do not want to return to militocracy of the past era, which had civilian structures but a junta at the head of the federal government. So, the coalition is centrally to safeguard the stability and achievements of Nigeria’s democracy.”

On whether the coalition can unseat Tinubu in the next general election, Dr. Ezeh responded confidently.

“Certainly. The APC’s house of cards is on fire and falling apart already! They have been running around, trying very devious tricks and seeking dangerous strategies to abort the coming landslide. With what happened on Wednesday, I can boldly say, it is rather too late already.”

“Nigerians have made up their minds that never again will a gang of free-wheeling politicians deceive them into handing them the country’s treasury. APC’s years of waste will remain indelible in our psyche as a warning and reminder of their years of gloom and destruction. That cursed era in our nation’s history shall never be repeated,” he stated.
