Court grants fiat for prosecution of Ivo council boss,eight others

The High Court in Abakaliki Ebonyi State capital on Thursday, granted a fiat application by Barrister Emeka Uwakwe on the trial of Mr Emmanuel Ajah, the Ivo council boss and eight other suspects over alleged armed robbery, kidnap and murder.

The suspects had on Jan. 17, 2017 allegedly robbed one Mrs Pauline Osita of N2 million naira ,phone and other valuables.

The defendants also on Jan. 18, 2017, allegedly kidnapped one Mrs Catherine Okorie and allegedly killed her on Jan. 22 of the same year.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene in his ruling said there was no conflict of interest in Uwakwe joining in the prosecution of the defendants.

The Judge, therefore adjourned the matter to November 21 and 28 ,2024 for further hearing.

Reacting to the ruling Bar Emeka Uwakwe,thanked the court for granting his fiat application while the defense counsels led by Friday Igwe applied for copies of the ruling to guide them further .
