The Ebonyi State House of Assembly (EBHA) Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy, and EBSIIEC Matters has tasked all 64 Development Center (DC) Coordinators to ensure the effective execution of quality projects in their respective areas, in line with Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s developmental vision.
The Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Goodluck Obinna Mbam, made this call during an oversight visit to Ebyia, Izzi, Nnodo, and Igbegu Development Centers. Hon. Mbam emphasized that all projects must meet required standards, warning that the Committee would not tolerate substandard execution.
At Ebyia Development Center, Hon. Mbam expressed satisfaction with the quality of projects undertaken by the Coordinator, Hon. Stephen Iboko. Other lawmakers, including Hon. Prince Nkemka Okoro Onuma, Hon. Deacon Joseph Ununu, and Hon. Arinze Lucas Chukwu, commended Iboko for maintaining a clean and well-organized headquarters. They also stressed the importance of DC Coordinators residing within their areas to ensure effective governance.
Hon. Iboko outlined key projects initiated under his leadership, including the grading and lateriting of Edukwuachi–Ndioruta–Ndiofutu–Abaofia road, construction of two culverts, borehole drilling, ongoing electrification projects, installation of solar lights, and erosion control measures. He also emphasized his administration’s commitment to fostering harmony among committee members, staff, and stakeholders for the even distribution of development across the area.
At Izzi Development Center, Hon. Mbam reiterated that the visit was part of the Committee’s constitutional oversight duties. He praised the Coordinator, Hon. Pascal Chukwudi Obiya, for his efforts and urged him to maintain good working relationships with his team. Hon. Obiya highlighted the center’s key projects, including the grading and lateriting of a 6km road, construction of a pavilion, borehole drilling, and renovation of the Development Center Secretariat.
During visits to Nnodo and Igbegu, the Committee Chairman urged the Coordinators to provide full details on all contracts and projects under their supervision. Hon. Obinna Nwedu, Coordinator of Igbegu, noted his efforts in maintaining peace in troubled areas and executing key projects such as bridge construction and road grading. Meanwhile, the Coordinator of Nnodo reported achievements in the renovation of the administrative block, construction of two culverts, and payment of bursaries to over 400 students.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in project execution across all Development Centers.
