The speaker, Ebonyi state house assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa has said that the 7th Assembly passed a total of 16 bills which were assented to by Gov. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru.
Speaker Odunwa, representing Ikwo south constituency proudly announced the passage of 16 bills into law during its inaugural year.
In a valedictory session held on Thursday, Speaker Odunwa revealed the assembly’s accomplishments, attributing their success to a harmonious relationship between leadership, members, and unwavering support from their constituencies.
“We have accomplished remarkable feats in our inaugural year,” Speaker Odunwa stated.
“These sixteen laws stand as a testament to our commitment to advancing the socio-economic development of Ebonyi State.”
Among the legislation enacted are critical laws such as the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency Law, 2023, Ebonyi State Rural Access Roads Authority Law, 2023, and the Ebonyi State International Airport Law, 2024.
Additionally, the assembly addressed urgent public concerns through motions including rehabilitation of infrastructure and educational upgrades.
In addition to legislative achievements, the assembly undertook rigorous oversight functions, confirming nominees for governmental positions and fostering partnerships with state development stakeholders to ensure transparency and effective governance.
Looking forward, Speaker Odunwa affirmed the assembly’s dedication to maintaining a strong collaboration with Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru’s administration.
Adding “as we successfully complete our first one year in office through the mercy of God, It is my pleasure to announce our resolve to continue to build a bridge of unity and peaceful atmosphere where progress and development shall reign.
“To continue to aid the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru by giving accelerated passage to his Executive Bills.
“To further make laws that will impact positively on Ebonyi People, enhance their economic prosperity and peaceful coexistence of Ndi Ebonyi across the 13 LGAs of the State and its Boarder areas.
“It is also our intention to consolidate on the achievements so far recorded within one year in office by pursuing more vigorous training and skills for a better Service delivery to Ebonyi people,” he stated.
