Ebonyi Assembly Advocates for University Community in EBSU

The Chairman of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Educatiion Hon Aloysius Nwodo has called for establishment of the University Community in Ebonyi State University to enhance learning and teaching process and equally to provide the needed conducive Environment for learning.

Speaking while on a familiarization visit to the Ebonyi State University, Hon Nwodo observed that tertiary institutions as the apex body of learning process should be made interesting for students as what are imparted into them will form the basic Contribution they gave into the society

The Chairman maintained that the success of government policy of People’s Charter of Needs will be best achieved if the University in the state paid more attention to the learning process of the students through better welfare packages for the Staff of the school.

Adding their voices, a member of the Committee representing Abakaliki North Constituency Hon Victor Chidi Nwoke , the member representing Ishielu South Hon Lucas Arinze Chukwu and his couterpart from Izzi East Constituency Hon Luck Obinna Mbam all stressed the need to maintain high standard of learning at the Institution and implored the management,of the University to have more synergy with all the relevant authorities in the educatiion sector to have a viable and productive graduates from the School.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Prof Chigozie Ogbu said that through the determination of the school management, the Ebonyi State University is presently ranking first amongst the State Universities in the South East Zone adding that at the just concluded International Competition for Medical Schools, Ebonyi State University came third

Prof Ogbu said that for more improvement , Special scholarship should be arranged for brilliant indigent students from Ebonyi State as some of them drops out from school due to lack of funds.

He however mentioned inadequate funding as the greatest challenge faced by the Institution.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Eugene Nweke thanked the Committee for the visit which he dubbed as the beginning of good things in the University and assured that the University Management will not relent in it’s efforts to achieve the best for the State.
