The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Infrastructural Development and Projects Monitoring has paid an oversight function visit to Ministry of Infrastructure Development for Concession to seek synergy between the duo to ensure Infrastructural Development in State.
The Chairman of the Committee and member representing Edda West Constituency Hon Prince Nkemka Okoro Onuma said the essence of the visit was to know the level of assessment of the Ministry budgetary provisions and projects been executed within the Ministry.
Hon Nkemka Onumah who stressed on the execution of quality and meaningful projects directed the Ministry to submit list of projects handled by the Ministry to the committee clerk for onwards projects sites visitations.
Also, Speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Projects Monitoring Hon Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali representing Afikpo North East said the visit was not witch-hunting but to ensure speedy execution of the projects awarded and equally ensure compliance with specifications and standards as contained in the Projects approvals. .
Contributing, Hon Godwin Abiri representing Izzi West , Hon Victor Nwoke representing Abakaliki North and Hon Chinyere Nwogbaga representing Ebonyi North East who are members of the Committee were of the opinion that the State Governor is keeping up with his campaign promises and urged the ministry to continue to be alive to it’s responsibilities.
Responding, the State Commissioner for Infrastructural development for Concession Engr Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara said his Ministry has embarked on execution of many projects which includes 2km roads construction in all communities of Ebonyi State.
He thanked the committee for the visit and assured the committee that his office will do it’s best to perform optimally.
The equally visited the State Ministry of Rural Development to know how the Ministry is being run.
Speaking, the Chairman of the Committee Hon Prince Nkemka Okoro Onuma said the visit was to familiarize with the Ministry and to discuss thier affairs and assured the readiness of the Committee to work with the Commissioner to ensure total development of rural areas of the state.
Adding his voice, the Chairman House Committee on Projects Mornitoring Hon Oluchukeu Ukie Ezeali representing Afikpo North East Constituency highlighted the importance of the Ministry to the well being of the rural dwellers and commended Barr Ikeuwa Omebe for his administrative ingenuity.
Responding, the State Commissioner for Rural Development Barr Collins Ikeuwa Omebe enumerated the achievement of Ministry under his administration to include visitation to one hundred and seventy one wards of Ebonyi State to ascertain thier needs in line with the charter of needs of state Governor .
He commended the State House of Assembly for the laws passed that enabled the ministry to record achievement and thanked the State Governor Rt Hon Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the enabling environment given them to operate.
In a vote of thanks, the cashier of the Ministry Mr Eze Chinedu Ogeh thanked the committee for the visit and expressed hope for more robust relationship with the ministry.
