The Member Representing Izzi West Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts and Skill Development Hon Chief Abiri Godwin Abiri has tagged off a Scholarship Foundation Scheme for Intelligent Indigent Students of his Constituency as part of activities marking the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New year celebration.
Flagging off the scholarship Foundation Scheme at his country home, Ogbagharu village of Ndiechi Ezza_Inyimagu Autonomous Community of Izzi Local Government Area in the presence of All Progressive Congress APC Chieftains, Party supporters, friends and well wishers as well as associates who filled his compound, Hon Chief Abiri encouraged parents and guardians of Izzi West State Constituency to ensure that thier children and wards embrace the scheme as it is one of the means he wants to use to give back to his constituents and to ensure reduction of illiteracy across the seven wards that made up Izzi West Constituency.
The State Lawmaker used the event to Commend the tireless effort of the present government under His Excellency Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru whom he said is in hurry to develop the state through his qualitative approach to governance especially his plans to recruit over one thousand five hundred Ebonyians into the state civil and public service and the recently payment of one hundred thousand naira to Ebonyi civil servant’s as Christmas bonus.
Chief Abiri said the intention of the scholarship scheme Foundation was to help complement the proactive steps of the state Goverrnor Rt Hon Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and wife in seeing that the less privileged persons in the society have a Sense of belonging especially this year.
He donated three million Naira into the Abiri Scholarship Scheme Foundation Account as take off fund and charged those saddled with the responsibility of managing the scheme to pick two persons each from the seven wards that make up the Constituency as start up beneficiaries.
On thier parts , the Chairman of the foundation Mr Paulinus Alegu, the secretary of the foundation Dr Sylvester Nkwegu Awam lauded Hon Chief Abiri for establishing the scheme and promised to be transparent in the discharge of thier duties.
Also Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and special Assistant to Goverrnor on IGR Hon Emeka Nwofoke, the Chairman Saint Margret Umahi International Market lot Two Chief Mrs Patience Nwali and the National President Agbaja Youths Assembly Comrade Uchenna Ibina discribed Hon Abiri as a man toeing the good legacies of his predicessor who is now the current Goverrnor of the State and prayed God to continue blessing him.
Hon Chief Godwin Abiri donated undisclosed amount of money to the people of the Constituency as thier Christmas and New year gift while he has earlier distributed wrappers, bags of rice and assorted food condiments to the people of Izzi West State Constituency.
