Prominent leaders in Ebonyi State have lauded Architect Edward Nkwegu for his transformative work through the Regina Pacis Foundation, as the organization celebrated its 21st Annual Thanksgiving at Nkwegu’s country home in Izzi Local Government Area.

Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru described Nkwegu as a “brilliant, industrious, and productive entrepreneur” whose vision continues to shape lives across the state. Former Senate President, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim—represented by Prince Nwabueze Ajah—also commended the foundation’s sustained commitment to nurturing “bright minds and promising futures,” noting that its interventions have had a measurable impact on widows, youths, and children.

Religious leaders echoed these sentiments. Rev. Fr. John-Paul Nwankwo hailed Nkwegu as a “dogged humanitarian” with an uncommon dedication to touching lives, while Bishop Peter Chukwu emphasized the need for charity rooted in love, urging citizens to “bank for humanity” by supporting meaningful service to others.

Speaking at the event, Nkwegu reaffirmed the foundation’s mission to build self-sufficient communities through capacity development and empowerment initiatives. He stressed that true progress comes from equipping individuals with the skills and tools necessary to transform their lives. According to him, meaningful change must begin internally: “No one is coming to save us,” he said, encouraging people to embrace self-discovery and take responsibility for their growth. He warned against procrastination, calling it “the sweetest lie we tell ourselves,” and urging individuals to seize opportunities with discipline and determination.

Over the past 21 years, the Regina Pacis Foundation has recorded significant achievements, ranging from support for widows to youth empowerment and child development programs. This year’s theme—“The Narrow Gate: Striving for the Quality of Heaven and the Path of Self-Sustenance”—captured the foundation’s core ideals of discipline, integrity, perseverance, and service.

Ebonyi State Secretary to the Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike, praised the foundation’s consistent contributions to socio-economic development and encouraged Nkwegu to expand its programs to reach even more beneficiaries.

The milestone celebration not only highlighted past achievements but also reinforced the foundation’s unwavering resolve to foster empowerment and lasting change across communities.
