The Ebonyi State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has applauded the National Executive Committee (NEC) for upholding the results of the state’s recently conducted election, which declared Comrade Andy Ndubuisi Nwogha as chairman.
In a communiqué issued after its general meeting at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, members commended the national leadership under the National President, Comrade Isaiah Benjamin, for its dedication to justice and fairness.
They expressed appreciation for NEC’s decision to affirm the election despite prior controversies surrounding its cancellation.

Part of the comminique reads “while thanking the entire members of NEC for this singular act and also for standing on the path of truth, justice and fairness, members of the Association unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the National leadership of SWAN and assured of their loyalty, solidarity and support at all times.
“Ebonyi SWAN also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the National Secretary of SWAN, Comrade Ikenna Okonkwo, the National Financial Secretary, Comrade Ijeoma Peter Nwante, the National Vice President, South East, Comrade Ikem Asika and the Chairman, Ebonyi SWANECO, Comrade Emeka Opara for their undiluted support to Ebonyi State Chapter of SWAN.
The chapter also thanked the Ebonyi State Government for its support, highlighting Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s efforts in reviving the state’s sports sector, including the creation of Abakaliki FC. Stakeholders like the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Prince Richard Idike, and NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Samson Nwafor, were recognized for their contributions.
In a bid to foster unity, the chapter embraced the national leadership’s plan to establish a reconciliation committee and urged aggrieved members to rejoin the fold. Members further pledged to advance the association’s objectives and support the newly inaugurated leadership in achieving greater milestones.
