The Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE) has urged the Federal Government to actively involve engineering technologists in national industrial and economic development plans.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, the Chairman  Abuja Branch, Nigerian Association of Technologists, TGST Abraham Agu Okpani (F-NATE), commended the government’s new SME loan initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and industrial growth.

However, he emphasized that Nigeria’s industrial transformation cannot be achieved without technology-driven solutions and the expertise of engineering technologists.

“As custodians of technology, we must be part of the process to ensure sustainable development,” Okpani stated.

He further called on the government to integrate engineering technologists into industrial policymaking.

Prioritize local technological solutions to drive economic growth and invest in research and development to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation capacity.

“With the government’s renewed focus on industrial expansion and digital innovation, meaningful progress can only be achieved through the full participation of engineering technologists,” Okpani added.
