Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, emphasized the crucial role of peace in achieving developmental goals for the state during the funeral service of late King Theophilus J.T. Princewill.
Despite political tensions with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, Governor Fubara urged residents to embrace harmony and actively contribute to the state’s progress.
Recognizing the challenges, he highlighted that peace is essential for growth and development, encouraging everyone to work towards the common goal of a peaceful and prosperous state.
Stating “we are in a difficult period, but just be peaceful. We cannot achieve progress in an environment of violence. We cannot grow our State to the level of our aspirations when there is trouble.”
“We can only advance to our dream State in a peaceful environment. I urge every one of you to be peaceful. Peace is the only instrument that can bring development.”
The governor commended the cooperation during the late king’s preparations, urging continued unity among the Kalabari people.
Pastor Belemina Obunge, representing the Redeemed Christian Church of God, emphasized seeking God fervently and living peaceably in his sermon titled “Don’t wait until you’re late.”
