Ibadan Explosion: Traders Tally Losses as Businesses Grind to a Halt

Business activities have ground to a halt in certain areas of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, following a tragic explosion that occurred on Tuesday. The explosion took place at Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija Housing Estate in Ibadan.

SPRINGNEWS’s correspondent, who visited parts of Bodija, observed that businesses near the accident site have been closed down, with traders left to assess their losses. Numerous houses, shops, and offices, particularly those in close proximity to the old and new Bodija, were affected by the explosion, resulting in multiple casualties.

When SPRINGNEWS visited the area, business owners and their employees were seen discussing the incident. In the aftermath of the explosion, only a handful of shops and offices within Bodija managed to open for business.

A trader, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that he had closed his business due to the impact of the incident, stating, ‘We have closed the shop. Some of us have been affected.’

An elderly man also shared his experience, stating, ‘My office has been affected. My office is close to this place. We have closed it. I just managed to come here to see what is happening here.
