Imo Gubernatorial Election: PDP Calls for Governor Uzodinma’s Disqualification

“Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Affirms Confidence in Imo Gubernatorial Election Despite Alleged Fake Video

As Imo State gears up for the gubernatorial election on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declares unwavering confidence in its candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, asserting that he remains undeterred and poised for victory. This statement comes in response to a purported malicious fake video, allegedly orchestrated by Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Senator Anyanwu.

In a press release issued on Friday by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, the party calls for the disqualification of Governor Uzodinma by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The PDP argues that the fake video, which it deems as barbaric and shameful, is evidence of Uzodinma’s fear of Senator Anyanwu’s popularity, prompting last-minute attempts to undermine his candidacy.

The statement emphasizes that Senator Anyanwu remains firmly in the gubernatorial race, urging the people of Imo State to dismiss the purported video as entirely false. The PDP contends that if anyone should withdraw from the race, it should be Governor Uzodinma, alleging that his involvement in producing and circulating the fake video violates electoral laws and standards.

The party calls on INEC to take appropriate action, citing the reported actions of the APC and Governor Uzodimma as a serious breach of the Electoral Act, 2022, the Nigerian Criminal Code, and Cyber Crime Law.”
