The Member representing Ohaozara West Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Parks and Market Development in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Onu Ukpai, has described the numerous magnificent projects embarked upon by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as clear indicators of the remarkable and unprecedented transformation taking place across the state.
Hon. Ukpai made this known while speaking on the two-year anniversary of Governor Nwifuru’s administration.
He noted that the Governor has made significant strides in improving both the infrastructural and architectural landscape of the state, while also providing basic social amenities. According to him, these efforts give credence to Governor Nwifuru’s leadership qualities.
The lawmaker further commended the state government’s initiatives in youth empowerment, scholarship schemes, agricultural loans, and entrepreneurship development.
Hon. Ukpai emphasized that the Governor has firmly established Ebonyi State as a hub of economic activity and given it a unique and admirable aesthetic outlook that is unmatched in the country. He also highlighted the Governor’s commitment to the security of lives and property, and his efforts in resolving violent conflicts, particularly the restoration of peace in Ishinkwo and Abaomege communities in Onicha Local Government Area, and Effium and Ezza communities in Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
He maintained that within just two years, Governor Nwifuru’s people-oriented administration—anchored on The People’s Charter of Needs—has delivered impactful projects across various sectors. He mentioned the construction of the VANCO Tunnel and several flyovers, the opening of 2km road networks in rural areas, and the establishment of the EBOCAB Taxi Services.
According to him, the administration has also constructed duplexes for traditional rulers, built 43 model secondary school buildings, and established the Ebonyi Feed Mill. Furthermore, he highlighted the construction of 143 duplexes at Centenary City and the delivery of 140 housing units to the people of Amaeze and Izzo.
Hon. Ukpai revealed that over 1,000 Ebonyians have benefitted from local and foreign scholarship schemes under the present administration. He also noted the establishment of two new higher institutions—the University of ICT at Oferekpe Agbaja and the University of Aeronautical Engineering at Ezza—as part of the government’s commitment to education and technological advancement.
Other notable achievements, he said, include the rehabilitation of the Ezilo Water Scheme, the expansion of critical power infrastructure across both urban and rural areas, as well as ongoing youth empowerment programs through various grant initiatives.
Hon. Ukpai also praised the 7th Ebonyi State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa for passing people-oriented laws and motions that have touched the very fabric of society.
He concluded by assuring the people of Ohaozara West Constituency of his unwavering commitment to effective and impactful representation in the State House of Assembly.
