Ogun CP Confirms Sanctions for Trigger-Happy Cop, Visits Shot Actor

The Ogun State Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alamtu has officially confirmed that disciplinary actions will be taken against a trigger-happy police officer. The officer is under scrutiny after accidentally shooting Nollywood actor and director Azeez Ijaduade in Iperu Remo.

CP , Abiodun exclusively shared this information with SpringNews Metro following the unfortunate incident. Alamutu expressed regret over the incident and assured the public that the involved officer would face sanctions.

Alamutu visited the in-patient wards of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital on Sunday, where Ijaduade is currently admitted. The actor was hit by a shot discharged by the police officer, who intended to disperse a group of thugs. The officer’s action was an attempt to protect the person he was attached to from a potential mob.

Despite the regrettable incident, Alamutu conveyed relief that the actor is in stable condition. He stated that Ijaduade would be discharged once certified okay by doctors, emphasizing the importance of ensuring no lives are lost.

The police commissioner disclosed, “The concerned policeman is already undergoing disciplinary procedures. What is important is for us to ensure that no life is lost.”

Alamutu acknowledged that while there are situations where officers may need to fire shots to disperse crowds, the current incident couldn’t be justified. He emphasized that the involved officer did not display professionalism, hence the disciplinary actions.

SpringNews Metro reported the incident initially disclosed by the actor’s colleague, Abiodun Adebanjo, via Instagram. The police officer, who accidentally discharged a shot from his rifle during an end-of-year party in Iperu, has been arrested. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed ongoing investigations and assured the public of updates.

As the actor, Azeez Ijaduade, continues to respond to treatment, the police are committed to ensuring accountability and taking necessary actions against the responsible officer. The Commissioner has also taken responsibility for the medical bill of the injured actor.
