Police Apprehend 7 Suspects Planning Violence in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has revealed the discovery of groups planning to incite violence following the Appeal Court’s ruling that removed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from office. Speaking to reporters on Monday, State Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel announced the arrest of seven suspects involved in the plot, with impending charges to be filed against them.

Commissioner Gumel disclosed that these groups, claiming to be traders, were congregating in various locations across the state, including several local government areas. He assured the public that the police are actively addressing the situation.

He stated, “Intelligence reports at our disposal show that these so-called traders are using religion to perpetuate their acts. Some patriotic Nigerians came to us from Bebeji, Wudil, and some other areas, reporting that some people are hiding under the guise of reading the Quran in the names of prayers, and already we have sent our men and dispersed them.”

Expressing concern, Gumel emphasized that these groups were attempting to manipulate public sentiment against the police, alleging harassment of women during their dispersal. He warned that the faceless groups were planning to disseminate negative messages through both social and traditional media to tarnish the image of the police.

“These faceless groups are planning to send negative messages through social media and traditional media against the Police, and they are putting pressure to achieve their bad intentions,” he added.
