The Plateau State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of six residents from kidnappers and the dismantling of a notorious criminal gang in the state. Unfortunately, a hunter who assisted in the rescue operation lost his life during the operation.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, the police acted on credible intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Gwalada village in Bauchi State, where several residents were forcibly taken to a rocky forest. A combined team of police officers, STF, and security help groups, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Jengre, confronted the kidnappers in their camp.

A gunfight ensued, but the security operatives prevailed due to their superior firepower. Six kidnapping victims from Gwalfada, Toro LGA, Bauchi, were successfully rescued, and one kidnapper was killed while the rest fled with gunshot wounds. Regrettably, a hunter named Nuhu Titus, who aided in the rescue, lost his life.

Efforts are ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects and rescue any remaining kidnapping victims. The Plateau State Police Commissioner, CP Okoro J. Alawari, reiterated the police’s commitment to combat crime and ensure the safety of all residents in the state. He warned kidnappers to repent or leave the state before facing police action.
