Charles Iteshi,
The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions and Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon.(Comrade) Chinedu Ogah OON, has commended the Founder of the Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), who doubles as the wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru for effecting the release of 41 inmates who had options of fine from the Abakaliki Correctional Centre, yesterday.
The federal lawmaker thanked and commended Mrs Nwifuru for such giant strides, stating that only a true mother that cares for her children goes a long way to put smiles on them. He noted that influencing the release of inmates during the Christmas season is the best that could happen to anyone because it demonstrates love and compassion.
He advised governors in Nigeria to toe the path of the Ebonyi State Governor by adopting the same strategy this Christmas season to release some inmates in other Correctional Centres across the country.
“I thank you for influencing the release of 41 inmates from the Abakaliki Correctional Center yesterday. This unflinching gesture is indeed a demonstration for the love you have for the people and it is in line with the People’s Charter of NEEDS agenda enshrined in the campaign promises of the executive governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru”
“This privilege is rare and the compassionate gesture of Her Excellency underscores Governor Nwifuru’s unwavering commitment to decongesting and reformatting correctional facilities in Ebonyi State to address prison break.
“I urge the former inmates to learn from the experience they have gained from the prison and turn new leaves in the society and contribute to the development of the society than causing social vices capable of polluting the environment”
“The Correctional Center is a place for reformation of character and rehabilitation of individuals for their mistakes, so don’t feel inferior for having such experience”.
Once again, thank you, Her Excellency.
Thank you, Nne oha!
Thank you, Oje l’ogbu mini.
