Security Tension Escalates As Operatives Take Control of INEC Office in Lokoja

In response to reports of a suspected arson plot aimed at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, security operatives have taken control of the office premises. The Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, and other security units were observed deploying armoured personnel carriers to fortify the INEC office and prevent any potential invasion.

According to SPRINGNEWS, the usually bustling post office, a hub of daily business activities, was deserted as a result of the heightened security measures. Vehicular movement in the vicinity was also restricted, with motorists redirected to alternative routes, particularly those heading towards Abuja, Nataco, and the Felele axis.

The security measures were implemented following accusations from one political party against another, alleging the sponsorship of thugs to destroy election materials stored in the INEC office. The situation has raised tensions in the area, prompting a swift response from law enforcement to safeguard the electoral facility.”
