The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, representing Ikwo South Constituency, has distributed over two hundred and forty-four bags of Fertilizers in his constituency in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi state.
Other items distributed to farmers across the ten wards that constitutes his Constituency include 150 bags of rice seedlings, and 150 cartons of herbicides, worth millions of naira.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in his hometown, Inyimegu, the Speaker, represented by his Protocol Officer, Mr. Awoke Victor Nwoba, disclosed that this exercise marks the first batch of distributions, with more phases expected to commence subsequently.
The Speaker expressed profound appreciation to the farmers for their unwavering dedication to agricultural activities and their relentless efforts in ensuring food security for families.
He said, “The Speaker is thanking you for your support and partnership in politics, and that the distribution was to support your farm and ensure there is food on your table.” The Speaker also commended them for their peaceful disposition within the community.
In their reactions, various stakeholders present at the event lauded the Speaker for his kind gestures, with assurances that the distributed farm inputs would be judiciously utilised to boost agricultural output.
Hon. Hilary Igwe, a member of the LGA committee, particularly praised the Speaker’s legislative prowess and leadership.
“We are all happy with the Speaker, with all that he has been piloting the affairs of the state, all his legislative works are very superb.
“The laws that he has been enacting for Ebonyians are well impressed into the system. So we are happy that we are here today to witness this very occasion. We are very happy with him and we will continue to do him proud by ensuring that there is peace and tranquility in all our domains,” Hon. Igwe stated.
Mrs. Alobu Philomena, Mr. Nwedu Johnson Ephraim among others who spoke and expressed their profound appreciation to the Speaker for his magnanimity and vow not to sell the items but use for agricultural purpose it was meant for.
