The Effiemgbabu Inyimegu community in Ikwo Local Government Area experienced a memorable celebration on Tuesday as the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, sponsored a Children’s Christmas Party and Free Medical Outreach in collaboration with the Baby Shower Initiative and the Ebonyi State Ministry of Health.
Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Theophilus Igwe, the Speaker described the programme as an expression of love, compassion, and communal responsibility. He said the initiative was designed not only to mark the festive season but to reinforce the importance of good health as the foundation of a joyful and productive life.
“This Children’s Christmas Party and Free Medical Outreach is not merely an event; it is an expression of love, of community, and of shared responsibility for one another,” he said.

Odunwa emphasized that good health remains the most precious gift on which every other blessing stands, noting that without health, celebrations lose their meaning and families lose their peace.
“A party will bring smiles to our children, but access to medical care will secure their wellbeing long after the decorations are taken down,” he added, stressing that the programme was designed to help families enter the new year stronger and healthier.
He commended the Baby Shower Initiative and the Ministry of Health for their steadfast partnership, describing their contribution as a clear demonstration of the power of collaboration in community development. The Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and growth of the people, noting that the initiative is part of a broader plan to promote health, happiness, and holistic community care.
The Baby Shower Desk Officer, Mrs. Ngozi Aloh, praised the Speaker for sponsoring such a meaningful programme. She explained that the outreach extended beyond Christmas celebration by paying special attention to the sick and promoting healthy living during the festive season.
Some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Ogbu Juliet and Mr. Ekoyo David, expressed deep gratitude to the Speaker for his generosity and compassion. They prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him for remembering the community at a crucial time.
The event featured free medical checkups, distribution of essential medications, and health consultations. Children also enjoyed Christmas gift sharing, an appearance by Father Christmas, and a lively dance session that brought joy and excitement to the community.
