President Bola Tinubu has encouraged Nigerians to overlook the trend of individuals seeking better opportunities abroad, assuring that his administration will focus on training more individuals domestically.
Speaking on Monday in Owerri during the second-term swearing-in ceremony of Governor Hope Uzodimma as Imo State’s leader, Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians should not be concerned about the significant departure of skilled workers from the country.
The President affirmed that the Federal Government, in collaboration with sub-national entities, will invest in training programs to address the noticeable professional gaps in sectors such as health, technology, and others.
Addressing the people of the state after the governor’s oath of office, Tinubu stated, “The education of children and youths is a priority for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. You see the priority in industrialization. Healthcare will receive more allocation and more attention.”
In response to concerns about the ‘Japa syndrome’ – the trend of people leaving the country for better prospects – Tinubu reassured, “Don’t worry about what you are hearing about the Japa syndrome, we will train more people, and we will supply them self.”
Additionally, the President assured the people of the South-East region that “the peace you are enjoying here will be better, and we will work more to achieve that peace.”
