Barely two months after assuming office as Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Professor Michael Awoke has kept his promise of prompt and regular payment of staff salaries.
Professor Awoke, who was sworn in as the 4th substantive Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, on February 12th, 2025, had repeatedly assured staff of his commitment to improving their welfare, including the regular payment of salaries on or before the 28th of every month. He also pledged to do everything within his power to ensure that the university is gazetted during his tenure.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor has continued to urge staff to reciprocate the management’s commitment to their welfare by demonstrating greater dedication to their duties.
He also issued a stern warning to randy lecturers and other staff, urging them to desist from unethical practices, as his administration will not condone any form of indiscipline, including sorting or the exploitation of students.
He stressed that the University’s Conditions of Service will be applied to anyone found culpable.
It could be recalled that within his first 15 days in office, the Vice Chancellor successfully ensured the payment of workers’ salaries on the 28th of February and has now repeated the same for March.
