WAEC Announces Shift to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for Senior School Certificate Examination.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) declared on Monday its departure from the traditional paper and pencil test model, opting instead for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for the administration of the Senior School Certificate Examination.

A statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, the acting head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC, conveyed this transition and was released on Monday.

The statement disclosed that the introduction of this innovation would commence with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates scheduled for February 2024. It emphasized the alignment of this move with global best practices.

“In line with global best practices, the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council wishes to inform the general public, and all its stakeholders, that it has concluded plans to migrate its WASSCE for Private Candidates Examination Diets from Paper and Pencil Test to Computer Based Examination,” the statement read.

Further details are expected to be provided in subsequent updates.
