The Commissioner for Transport and Special Projects in Ebonyi State has urged road users in the state to exercise caution and prioritize safety while traveling.

He made this known while speaking with journalists in his office in Abakaliki.

He disclosed that as the festive season  draws near, there would be an increase vehicular movement, hence he advised all road users to prioritize safety measures to avoid unnecessary accidents.

The commissioner  equally commended the efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who has made strides to alleviate transportation challenges in the state.

He described the addition of 20 Toyota Hiace buses to the Ebonyi state Transport  Corporation (EBOTRANS), as a move that has brought significant relief to Ebonyians.

“he also offered the transport fare at subsidized rates, ensuring more affordable travel options for residents compared to other transport companies.”

Addressing concerns regarding road safety, the commissioner noted that the Ministry of Works has been actively maintaining roads across the state, ensuring that potholes are fixed and that roads remain in good condition for the influx of travelers.

He further stated that security and traffic personnel are on the ground to enforce traffic laws, particularly in high-traffic areas such as Abakaliki.

The commissioner also urged drivers to conduct regular vehicle checks, particularly focusing on tyre safety, and warned against the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.

“Most accidents occur when people rush to meet deadlines or are reckless on the road, this festive season, we urge all road users to take it easy, drive responsibly, and make safety their priority,” he said.
