The federal lawmaker, representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, demonstrated his commitment to community welfare on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, by distributing relief items and cash amounting to millions of naira during his annual outreach event for the needy and his constituents.
Rep Ogah who also doubles as Chairman House Committee on Reformatory Institutions in the federal house of representatives distributed the gifts items to his constituents in his hometown at Item Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Expressing gratitude to guests who honored the event, Ogah utilized the occasion to empower individuals from various demographics, including the less privileged, youth, women, and those facing economic hardships within and beyond his constituency.
Addressing Newsmen, the lawmaker said that the annual event is done every 26th of December orchestrated towards empowering his constituents and ensure that they were given a sense of belonging as citizens of the State.
” It is the vote of the masses that I represent, if not for their combined effort, I wouldn’t have been at the National Assembly today, if not for their suffering, I wouldn’t have been at the National Assembly.
” I am only a privileged person before the masses I represent, because all of us are equal and qualified to be at the National Assembly.
“For the fact that I represent them, it is my duty to be accountable to them, it is my duty to serve them, it is my duty to feed them , it is my duty to take their calls”.
Ogah, however, lauded the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Gov. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, stressing on renewed Hope and the Chartered of Needs agendas respectively. He urged all citizens to contribute to the country’s development and endorsed supporting the administrations at both federal and state levels.
The event attracted dignitaries and relevant stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, both in Ebonyi State and beyond, members of other political parties, members of the State Executive Council, different support groups and representatives of meaningful personalities in the society.
Among those in attendance include, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Moses Ije Odunwa, Deputy Speaker, Rt. Honourable Chinedu Onah, Senators, Kenneth Emeka Eze, representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Nwebonyi Peter Onyekachi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, the State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha.
Also, the Special Assistant on Social Development Goal to Speaker, federal House of Representatives, Abdullahi Ningi, the Retired Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Aloy Nwankwo, Members of the State Executive Council, Captains of Industry, Village heads, traditional rulers, Hausa community and a host of other dignitaries.
The distributed items to the people ranges from Motorcycles, wrappers, bags of rice, bags of beans, clothes, blankets, money, among others.
